Wow, this has been a popular topic. I’ve been tagged by Shelli, Casey, and Chandler and instructed to write about six things that make me happy. I’m hesitant to tag anyone else because I’ve taken so long to do this, and I’m sure most people have already done it. So, how about this? If you haven’t blogged about things that make you happy, and you want to do so, consider yourself tagged.
On with the show!
1. An orange before bedtime makes me happy. It’s the perfect nighty time snack. Not too heavy, and when you’re finished, you can lay the peel on your bedside table and smell the orangey goodness as you drift off to sleep.
2. A good TV series on DVD makes me happy. I can’t stand having to wait a week to find out which tie Chuck will be wearing or whether Jim and Pam actually end up together. So my idea of bliss is spending a weekend curled up in comfy blankets, watching a season of THE WEST WING or SIX FEET UNDER.
3. Of course, writing makes me happy. It doesn’t happen every time I put my Butt In the Chair, but when I reach that streak of awesomeness, I’m flying high. And what’s even cooler than writing that phenomenal scene is reading it later and realizing it really does rock.
4. My husband makes me happy. Marriage is tough, but it’s so worth it. Someone to laugh with, someone to cry with… you know the cliché. But seriously, the biggest thing that makes me happy is making my husband smile.
5. Hope makes me happy. As I listened to Obama’s speech today, I had to cry a bit at the knowledge that I’m bringing a baby into a world that I believe can and will be a better place than it has been these last few years.
6. Lastly, reading your blogs makes me happy. So thank you.

What lovely happy thoughts! I loved that orange. Never thought of that. I need an orange now.
Yup, I go along with Natalie
Oh, fun-ness! And oranges do smell fantastic.
I love oranges, too. They definitely make me happy. So much that I used them as a symbol of happiness in my first novel, so I got really excited when I saw the title of your post. :)
I agree with you on some of those happy things. Writing, husband, children, and tv series. I'm currently watching Firefly and wishing they hadn't canceled it.
orange? you are so healthy - mine is MMs - oh why cant mine be an orange :)
Love it all... even the oranges! An orange before lunch makes for my happy mid-morning snack.
: )
either Jill is naive, in-experienced or just plain ignornant to he world around us! she can not actually believe that the USA is now magically transformed due to our America's routine President replacements. Wake up Jill and realize that unless politics in Washington change collectively, and real people start to take back government, Things can never truly change in the long term. Even Thomas Jefferson said, an occassional revolution in Government can be a good and needed plan of action.
There's nothing wrong with being inspired, Patrick. I kind of feel sorry for you, actually, if you think nothing can ever change. If you ask me, THAT is naive. Not to mention lazy.
By the way, very brave of you to create that account just to post something negative that can't be traced back to you.
Sigh, I suppose I had to get one pointlessly disparaging comment at some point.
Hey Patrick, take a hike. No one cares to hear your negativity here.
I felt inspired by Obama's speech, Jill! It was wonderful. Made me cry a little too. It was so full of hope, which our nation really need right now.
Now, as for oranges, I gotta say, I'm not a huge fan. They're okay, but that was the only fruit my mom ever packed for me in my school lunch, so I think I'm just sick of them.,
LOL at Renee's comment about oranges.
Orange before bed, I'll have to try that! I love oranges.
Great happy-list Jill!
Those are great happy thoughts!
I am going to do this tomorrow :)
Too bad someone gave you negativity on your happiness blog. I'll give you a "yeea" and "oranges". Might offset some.
Hey, how are you doing? Hope all is well. I would love to speak to you sometime.
Oh, I love Chuck! And Burn Notice starts tonight! I'm so excited. (It's on USA: if you haven't tried it, do! I didn't like the main character the first couple times, but then I fell hard for the cast. I love the show now! It's my favorite!)
Great list.
Oranges are a guilt-free pleasure of mine, too.
I have a love/hate relationship with writing too but for the most part I love it.
You make me happy, Jill =)
